LOC Group is pleased to announce the acquisition of SCUA Middle East Consultancy with effect from 1 April 2013.

This acquisition combines LOC Middle East and SCUA Middle East to form a team of nearly 30 staff, including marine engineers, master mariners, naval architects and civil/structural engineers with wide-ranging skills and knowledge. SCUA Middle East will become part of LOC Middle East, which will continue to respond to all types of marine insurance claims, casualty, loss prevention, engineering and energy issues in the increasingly complex shipping, oil and gas markets.

LOC Middle East, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, is one of the region’s largest specialist marine and engineering consultancies. Led by Paul Miles, LOC Middle East now has three offices, with another scheduled to open in Mumbai in 2013.

Managed by Pat Cannie since opening in 1992, SCUA Middle East has grown to be one of the most respected consultancies in marine engineering & insurance claims across the region.

All current SCUA Middle East staff will join LOC Middle East and Pat Cannie will manage the specialist hull and machinery department. LOC Middle East will continue to serve SCUA Middle East’s existing client base and will provide the same high level of service and response, with the added advantage of the wider expertise available within the LOC Group, both regionally and globally.

Pat Cannie, Manager Hull and Machinery (LOC Middle East) said: “I’m delighted that my team and I are joining the highly respected LOC Group. I’m certain that the extra resources in the enlarged Dubai office will enable us to continue serving existing and future clients to the same high standards as before.”

Paul Miles, LOC Middle East’s Managing Director, sees this as a very attractive acquisition: “This additional expertise complements LOC Middle East’s current profile, contributes to our strategic growth plans, and improves the service lines we provide, benefitting our client base tremendously.”
