Launch of YoungShip Rotterdam/​Netherland​s!

“YoungShip is a professional non-profit organization for young people working within the global maritime industry.
Our vision: “YoungShip shall promote competence and network development, and promote young professionals in the global maritime industry”
Founded in Bergen in 2004, the initiative spread quickly to other maritime hubs. The global YoungShip network today counts more than 2.500 individual members in Oslo, Haugesund, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Trondheim, Gothenburg, Dubai, Liverpool, Rio de Janeiro and also the countries of Singapore, Cyprus, Mexico and Italy.
YoungShip´s core purpose is to provide a competence and network enhancing arena for our members, and to promote the young professionals in the global maritime industry. We also have a particular focus on developing the young generations´ knowledge and interest for environmental developments, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Our sister organizations in Greece, New York, London, Australia and Hong Kong are also  inspired by the YoungShip concept. All members of these organizations are entitled to attend events organized by other branches & sister organizations.
Rotterdam is a dedicated Port city with a wealth of maritime heritage dating back hundreds of years! Today, Rotterdam still maintains a strong maritime cluster from Schools, Universities, Classification, Marine Law Firms, Ship Yards, Ship Owners and the list continues.
The current Netherlands (Rotterdam) branch of YoungShip was started up in October 2013 out of Rotterdam by Thomas Joyce working with Marlow Offshore Netherlands.

YoungShip Rotterdam will:
–          Promote the Maritime Industry from a Young perspective to a Young perspective within local Schools and Universities.
–          Bring together all the corners of the Maritime Industry within Rotterdam and the surrounding areas to promote the people, companies and opportunities which are there.
–          Place mentoring programs between senior professionals with the new generations to help bridge the gaps between the experience leaving the industry and the new professionals entering the industry.
–          Hold workshops dealing with challenges of today to make them opportunities of tomorrow.
–          Promote Young Professionals of Rotterdam to the Global Maritime community.
–          Focus on developing the Young generations’ knowledge and interest for environmental developments, innovation and entrepreneurship.
