Negative reports about grounded ship

The ship which grounded off Langesund last week, had a total of more than 30 negative remarks from European harbour authorities over the past 11 years, according to public broadcaster NRK.

Among other things the crew allegedly carried out a fire drill in 2007, without using safety equipment.

“This is very serious for the those who participate in the drill and do not know what equipment to use. At the same time it also indicates a poor attitude to security on board the ship and in the shipping line.” says maritime expert Ketil Sollien.

The salvage crews are due to begin emptying the remaining fuel oil from “Full City” on Thursday. Reports Wednesday said the damage to the hull may be too severe for the ship to be re-floated. This would mean that the ship might have to be cut up where it is stranded.
