Wilson Sons selects PG-MACS for newbuilds

PG-Marine in Norway has announced that it has been awarded a contracts by Wilson Sons and Dutch shipbuilder/designer Damen Gorinchem to supply its PG-MACS Hybrid System for Wilsons next tranche of newbuildings for shipowner Saveiros, vessels which are destined to work for Brazilian state-owned oil company Petrobras.“Since the first PG-MACS presentation in 2007, Petrobras has appreciated the advantages of PG-MACS,” said PG-Marine in a statement, noting that these include improved cargo facilities, extremely flexible tank configurations, cargo segregation, and the ability to transporting challenging cargo such as drill cuttings.

“Petrobras have worked systematically for implementation of such features, and had described these features in their newbuilding specifications in spring 2008,” said PG-Marine.

“One year later, eight vessels have been contracted with three different shipowners, all to be built in Brazil, and it is the two first of these which PG have now secured as orders, for 2010 and 2011 delivery.”

The vessels are Damen 4500 MACS PSVs, which will be built at Wilson Sons shipyard in Brazil, as H/N 552016 and 552017.
