Search and rescue continues following yesterday’s fire onboard the Transocean Ltd. semisubmersible drilling rig Deepwater Horizon. Of the 126 member crew, 11 remain missing and 115 have been evacuated, Transocean reports.
The rig continues to burn. Transocean, BP, and the US Coast Guard are pursuing various methods to halt the hydrocarbon flow that appears to be fueling the fire and the rig is being monitored for stability. The cause of the explosion and fire is undetermined.
