The 2001 built Dutch motorvessel Sluisgracht (Imo 9202522) has been grounded 5 km North/West of Cadzand in the Westerscheldt. The grounding was caused by engine malfunctioning, according to the coastguardcentre in Den Helder, The Netherlands.
The 172 meter long Sluisgracht has been laden with 18.600 ton Chinese clay. A tug, a rescuevessel from Cadzand, a coastguardplane and the Barend Biesheuvel are on their way to the Sluisgracht. At 16.30 local time, the vessel was refloated by tugs Multratug 10, Union Topaz and Union Emerald from Multraship and Unie van Redding- en Sleepdienst and moored at Wielingen North anchorage, probably for
inspections.
