Record attempt turned into tugboat war

The association “De Binnenvaart” at Dordrecht does not want to collaborate on a record for the longest tug parade. The record attempt is planned for Saturday in Rotterdam during World Harbour Days. The old record was held by the association “De Binnenvaart” at Dordrecht and dates from 2007. They perform a row of tugs and pushers on the river Merwede over a length of 6 km. The Foundation St.Jobshaven from Rotterdam wants to break that record. But the Dordrecht association acknowledges the new attempt not. According to the chairman Ad Schroot follows the Rotterdam foundation not the same rules. In Rotterdam the ships will sail alongside each other partially and not in a row. Also the inland shipping traffic in Rotterdam curdled, which in Dordrecht in 2007 has not happened. According to Mark Vogt of the Foundation that the record in Rotterdam organizes everything is indeed following the rules. Vogt thinks that without the participation of the Dordrecht association the record will succeed. It is planned that next Saturday during the World Harbour Days more than 148 tugs and pushers to reach the Nieuwe Maas to attempt the record. If successful, Rotterdam deserved an entry in the Guinness World Records book.
